The new issue of Sleek Magazine is out with an article about the recurrent and blonde character in the german photographer Tina Bara’s Marilyn series: Elisabeth Lukesch.
__As a teenager Elisabeth Lukesch made Marilyn Monroe her idol, and years later acted out her favourite Monroe photos for artist Tina Bara (Marilyn, 2002-04), releasing herself little by little from her role model. The celebrated original works are easy to recognize (some are from the legendary last photo session with Bert Stein). The difference between original and pastiche creates a fracture which, absolutely intentionally, operates in a humorous way. But it also shows how easily we adopt self-chosen and assigned roles which negate our actual characters.
